Once we were done looking for the Castform, Kip approached me and noted that Kora was handling the errand of getting party supplies alone just a block or so away. He was concerned because we were not supposed to go anywhere alone, and I assured him that I would keep company with her so that she would not be alone here. Due to the nature of her recent past, it occurred to me that she was very unlikely to actually need anyone to support her, but I then remembered an old saying my grandfather once told me. Those who appear strong and need no one are often the ones who need company the most. With that wisdom in mind, I decided that the right and proper thing to do was to keep company with Kora. As it turns out, I may have been right to feel this way.
I assisted her in carrying some of her party supplies, and we agreed to hang out a chat a bit. Naturally, the topic gravitated toward the discrepancy between the rude, elitist rich and myself, who was raised in a proper and noble household that holds tenets against such superiority complexes. Of course, that topic quickly ran out of steam, and we moved on. We discussed the possibility of working together on a collaboration project for viewer sharing.
I could tell by the way she spoke about the collaboration that she was ill at ease about working together in an equal partnership and kept implying it was doing me a favor. This only further brought to mind the wisdom of my grandfather. Kora is strong and used to being alone. It would be best to try to build a mutually beneficial and positive relationship with her. If she feels that she has few people whom she can rely upon, I wish to be one of those people.
Ultimately, we decided to get some ramen at a shop in the historical district. We asked some local poison rabbits to watch over our supplies and offered for them to take some of the food as payment for their watchful protection. Next, we acquired the help of a Manturbo, which is a very interesting hybrid of a sort of ray and machine. It has a hatch wherein one can sit whilst it takes you to a destination. We had no real issues getting there.
Narrator voice: What Ramwald doesn't mention is, of course, Kora's attempt to fleece Ramwald by faking that the Manturbo was charging them extra partway through the trip. They spoke about it indirectly, and mutually agreed to consider it a one-time test and that this, the first time, it was fine. Ramwald did mention that a second time would be "not so good."
We arrived and Kora went to inquire about the ramen place, which is apparently a moving restaurant carried upon a cart of some sort. Unfortunately, when she returned, she revealed that she had discovered that the ramen owner had closed. While she was gone, I met a very large snake that was white with gray bands and a few teal spots. Its tail was flat and looked like a beautifully decorated paddle. They were initially nervous about being spotted by me, but I managed to charm them and we quickly became friends. After some communication, I managed to glean that they were hungry.
Kora suggested we get food at some fast food place. I don't want to be someone who looks down on others for eating trashy food, but I also don't want to be someone who takes that option when there are plenty of better options to be had. I managed to convince Kora by saying I wanted to get this snake Pokemon food but didn't want to get them fast food because it was unhealthy. Instead, we decided to visit a "mom-and-pop" location. I am unsure if it was a restaurant or not, but it seemed to be. It was simply plastic chairs with plastic tables outside, which isn't what I am used to seeing, but there was some charm to it. An elderly woman took our order and told Kora to be kind to me. I let the woman know that Kora was, in fact, a good friend to me, and Kora even paid for our small lunch. The food was quite good, actually, so I think it was no loss for the ramen place to be closed.
I asked if the snake Pokemon, who I had learned during our lunch, was a Seviper, would like to come with us and meet my friends, and they agreed. I was very happy to hear that because it would be quite sad to see the big fellow return to a solitary life when it was clearly struggling to find food.
On the way back to the supplies, Kora and I continued to talk, and I feel that we were able to plant the initial seed of a friendship. She told me that talking to people is like a second language to her, but I offered that I am good at learning languages and that I would endeavor to learn to speak Kora as best as I could. They also revealed to me that they had been cured of an illness or injury of some sort by a Pokemon, and I mentioned that I had likewise been healed by a Pokemon.
After picking up our supplies from the poison rabbits, we arrived at the pool party. I introduced Seviper to Althea. Althea had asked me if I wanted to catch Seviper, citing my position as a Rookidee specialist as a reason that I might not, and I confirmed that I did not for the very reason she cited. I told her I was only interested in being friends with the Seviper. Then was directed to help arrange some decor. Having had some experience doing so, I was actually quite excited to help. While I was away, Althea swayed the Seviper into joining her team, which means that, thankfully, the Seviper should have a happy family to call home now. This brings great joy to my heart. It is these small instances that prove to me that, without a doubt, things are fated to happen. Had I not stumbled upon this Seviper in its unfortunate position, or had someone less charming or less honest been the one to find them, things could have gone poorly for them. But fate put me on Seviper's path and had me lead them to Althea. I must just be sure that Althea respects the importance of fate in this matter and treats Seviper well.
I digress.
The pool party went well and was a great deal of fun. I got Kora and Eva talking together and getting along, which was a major goal for me. If they can become friends, I think the two of them will help each other a great deal. Paige reminded me to speak with Prof. Nara about watching Eva, Irina, Morty, and Angelo so that the adult members of the two groups could meet for drinks and, more importantly, give Paige a break from her work. Prof. Nara agreed.
Unfortunately, things went poorly when Morty decided to... I don't actually know what his true intent was. He somehow coerced OutKast to pull a foolish and unkind prank to ruin the pool party. Likely, Morty was simply trying to ruin it to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in a bathing suit. This child's selfishness is far out of hand. I'm not sure what can be done about it now, though, because we do not have time to arrange for him to get the therapy he needs to learn to behave himself. Anyway, I digress again.
OutKast dropped a Snicket Bar from high above us into the pool, hoping to deceive us into believing that it was poop. Naturally, such a feeble attempt at deception failed. It was shortly after that that Irina accidentally revealed that Morty had stolen the candy bar. Yes, after having been part of this program for less than 12 hours, Morty had already found the time to steal, despite having plenty of money from the program. Naturally, this greatly upset Prof. Nara, and caused quite a scene.
Thankfully, Kora is going to resolve the issue because she knows the employee from whom Morty had stolen. Unthankfully, we had previously made plans for Prof. Nara to introduce us to Jay if I succeeded in a PokeRinger contest. Not that opportunity has been stolen from me just as much as the candy was stolen from the store. Truly, I must come up with some solution to help Morty with his issues. His selfishness ruined the end of a good party, specifically Eva's birthday party, and the end of our first day together, and it dashed my budding hope to impress a personal hero. Truly, truly, something must be done to help him.
