Hey diary. It’s me again and I’ve got another heavy one for you today. We made it to the Davao islands today and trouble started before we even landed. As we were approaching the islands, Kali saw ESP doing something off in the distance. I don’t know what exactly we did, but somehow we got her attention. Chesa said it had something to do with psychics being able to tell when people are thinking about them. Sujin and Jay tried to leave ESP in the boat’s wake, but it didn’t go so well. She just levitated the boat out of the water and kidnapped Joe right in front of us. Chesa and I tried to find her with our powers, but we couldn’t find anything. It was like ESP just took Joe and left the islands. We parked the boat after that and got ready to explore. Sujin, Lyra and Kip went to the city to poke around and see if they could get some supplies for one of Sujin’s tech projects. I think he said he was looking for something to jam the radio waves in the area. We left Jay to look after the boat while the rest of us went to investigate a strong aura I felt to the North.
Something about the Davao Islands was just off. We didn’t really see much wildlife and everything was quiet. There was one purple ball thing stuck in a tree, but it just exploded on Darna as soon as she tried to interact with it. I know the pokemon in the area are supposed to be aggressive, but that’s a bit over the top. Continuing North, we found a snowy, cloudy area with a shiny something sitting on the ground. Kali saw a cage hanging above the shiny and used her lasso to snag it without getting caught. Turns out
the shiny was a really cold piece of ice. The cage fell where the ice was and then the ground opened up underneath it. For some reason, Darna thought it was a good idea to jump down into the obvious trap. The ground doors closed behind her and we had to figure out how to rescue her. Kali and I were thinking straight forward, just smash the doors or force them open. Chesa’s idea was much better, just have Octavian teleport us past the doors. There was still the problem of not knowing how far down the hole went and falling after the teleport. Fortunately, Kali still had her Tropius so we could just fly the rest of the way. Sona and Kali grouped up, which meant I had to share Summer with Chesa. I turned into a fumbling idiot almost immediately. My mind was racing, I could hear my heart pounding in my chest and I’m pretty sure I almost dropped Summer’s pokeball while I was at it. I don’t know how Amina put up with being in my head that whole time. I was so embarrassed that I could practically feel the distance between us growing larger.
Well, I didn’t have a lot of time to think about that because we quickly found ourselves at the bottom of the hole. I wasn’t really prepared for what we found down there. The cavern was covered in ice and snow and waiting for us on the other side was Joe, a Regice named Regi and a frozen Darna. It should’ve been a relief to find him, but he almost immediately tried to attack us and steal something. Looking back on it, I’m not sure even he knew what he was looking for. He wasn’t exactly being specific with us. We
didn’t realize it at the time, but Joe was under ESP’s influence and that was forcing him to mug us. Things devolved into a large battle between us and all of Joe’s friends. We were enduring the waves of explosive balloons and slimes really well. Then Sona and Kali noticed something off about the whole situation. Sona took advantage of Nia’s speed and struck something on Regi’s back, ending the fight.
We realized just how dire things really were when we got close to Regi. The thing Sona hit was a machine embedded in Regi’s back that was melting it from the inside out. We didn’t have much time. I could feel its life force fading away. Chesa and I worked together to throw together a berry mix to try and heal the damage from the machine. Sona came in with another great idea. She had Meg use some kind of blizzard ability to help repair the damage and holy crap, I didn’t think it could get that cold. It was by far the best thing we could do to help and seemed to restore some vigor to the poor guy. We didn’t do enough though. Regi is probably going to die in two weeks and it feels like there’s nothing we can do. Ugh, I hate it! Why do people always have to get hurt? Why can’t I ever seem to do anything about it?
Sujin, Kip, and Lyra were on their way to Cataboto city, when they realized they should probably put on disguises. Unfortunately, either due to the sharpie moustache quality of their disguises or the fact that they changed into them in front of a security camera, they were caught at the front door. Unable to fight back against Cordelia’s gaurds, our trio were captured and taken on an elevator ride through the city’s dingey underbelly to the overclean upper city. Once there, they got locked in an office space. Sujin wasted no time in trying to crack into what few electronics were present. To his credit, he managed to connect to the city network through a table monitor and found some useful information about the location of the power generators for the radio wave generators. Unfortunately, he played right into Cordelia’s hand. She strolled in bragging about how she let him find the info just so she’d know his plan. In the end, Sujin would’ve done more damage by taking a page out of Lyra’s book and running the room service for what it was worth. Needless to say, he wasn’t too thrilled with the turn of events. In a fit of Sujin’s trademark hostility, he grabbed Cordelia and somehow managed to defeat himself in the process.
Our trio weren’t held captive for very long. Cordelia fit the group with tracking devices in hopes of discovering the others’ whereabouts. With that done, she accompanied them outside and proceeded to talk their ears off about comics and her rivalry with Darna. Part unable to take it anymore, part trying to escape long enough to do something about the tracking device, Sujin and Kip used their pokemon to make a break for the boat. Back at the boat and with no time to waste, Sujin set to work trying to remove the tracking bands. Unfortunately, the tech was too complicated for Sujin and he tripped a security measure. In a fit of desperation (and possibly madness) Sujin grabbed a buzz saw and was about to do something rash until Kip and Jay talked some sense into him. By combining their wits and reversing one of Kip’s abilities, Sujin and Kip were able to remove their tracking bracelet and just in time too. As soon as they had finished their work, Sujin and co could hear Lyra talking in the distance. Jay went out to distract Cordelia and buy time for Sujin to get the boat flying. Jay’s distraction was hilariously counterproductive, but it still gave Sujin enough time to activate the boat’s blimp. With one last potshot at Cordelia’s ego, Sujin flew the blimp away, leaving Jay and Lyra behind.
Without Sujin’s tech skill, there wasn’t much else we could do other than thaw Darna out. Well, we didn’t have to wait long on that. Sujin came down the stairs carrying an unconscious Kip. He told us about what happened. He said they got captured by Cordelia and that they had to do something with Kip to get away. Something about turning off a tracking device, probably the gizmo he had with him.
Whatever they did, it sure did a number on the poor guy. We told Sujin about the machine and got him to try and figure out what to do. While Sujin was looking at the machine and talking to Regi, Joe kept getting worse and worse. Chesa and Octavian took a look at Joe, but they couldn’t do anything to help him. Then something crazy happened. The egg we’ve been carrying around since Ganlan hatched into a cute little water cat. The dex called it a Nyature and said that they are supposed to be extinct. Chesa named the little guy Glish. Joe seemed to calm down too. Maybe he just shrugged off ESP? Everything started to calm down and that gave us a chance to do some planning. We had to go find some kind of artifact for Regi and free our captured friends. Eventually, we settled on something. My job was to go defeat Cordelia in a gym battle and use that as my in to free the others. Meanwhile, Darna and Kali were
supposed to sneak in and see what they can find. I couldn’t help feeling nervous. I’m basically just going to walk in the bad guys’ front door. It almost feels like I’m going to walk into a den of beasts.
