Rumo’s Musings
Adventure means a lot of things. It can mean expanding your horizons; it can mean pushing your body and mind to you limits; it can mean friendships won, villains vanquished, and people saved. What does one do, however, when the villain is not so clear and it falls upon you to build faith in a solution to a problem you barely understand? My name is Rumo Heb Din, Ociaylo royalty, and this is my story. But forgive me, I have gotten ahead of myself.
I do believe the previous day marked a low point for us intrepid heroes. Disgraced, exhausted, and forced to sleep in a haunted graveyard with 3 blankets between us, our ragtag group needed reorientation. We found it in productivity, and in a bit of time apart. Lyla set off to gather food for us, as she often does. Without her, we certainly would be dead a thousand times over. If not to hunger, then to the wilderness. If not the wilderness, then our tempers. More and more, she proves herself a level headed leader, whether or not she would call herself ours. Wonderful and harsh, I find myself grateful for this quest, even in the most trying of times, simply for getting to meet her.
Jozari used his time to train his Pokémon. I however, was tasked with cleaning Jozari’s mess and ensuring he would not be exiled from his goals. I do not know what was in the note he gave me, but Lydia did not rip it up or kick me out, so it seems he is skilled with the pen. Honestly, there isn’t much he isn’t skilled with. By and far the most intelligent person I’ve met, Jozari is extremely good at bending the world to his whims. If only we could agree on those whims, but in honesty I am glad we do not easily see eye to eye. It sharpens us, and I hope we can soon cooperate in saving this region. Truly I do not believe I can do so without him.
With his free time, Arthur crushed a battle. I’m told it was very impressive. Arthur is… it would be wrong to call him confident. He is the first to balk at the thought of a massive undertaking, and understands our world less than one would expect. That said, he would never leave a friend alone with a task too large for them, would never allow his lack of worldly knowledge to hinder him in doing what he feels he should. He’s an honest liar and it is wonderful to be on this adventure with him. If Jozari and I are locked steel, then Arthur is a whetstone; sharpening us while avoiding the conflict altogether.
As we spent our time alone, Lyla ran into an unlikely ally. Winston, the man unknowingly wronged by Jozari, appeared in her path and they became fast friends over the ideals of giving aide. Truth be told, I find him incredibly boring, but Lyla’s judge of character has yet to fail us! Arthur seemed to get on well with him, and he traded over his Swablu for Lil Man the Mankey. Trading is not something I think I can understand, as it feels like a bond given up, but perhaps I am short sighted in this regard. At the very least, they seem to get on well.
That night we engaged plan Cap n’ Cap, engaging the Murkrow that had been devastating the town. It was a simple and effective plan, brought to us through trust and more roadside arguments than I would like to admit. Morrigan and I played the bait, distracting the murder of pokemon with our performance. In honesty, this was terrifying and only the knowledge that Lyla and Scrappy were protecting us kept me on my feet. Arthur, Jozari, and Winston engaged the Murkrow in battle, eventually defeating the head honcho. While they were unable to catch him, Arthur was able to capture a younger Murkrow! It was an incredible night to know him, as Arthur’s ability to sense others was also displayed. Feeling my growth from our trials, he bid me send out Phosmage to bring out a triumphant Aurora beam, overlaying the battlefield in beautiful light as a declaration of victory. I could see him swell with pride as he had been instrumental in bridging trust between me and my powerful scaly friend. It was nice to see that, so soon after we had nearly fallen apart, our group could have so powerful a triumph!
We will need that collective power, as what comes next has me frightened. We approach a performance so grand that it will shake the foundations of the region, and yet I have no idea how to engage in it. I need a path forward to perform, a way to reach the hearts of those who feel slighted and open a path to freedom for our people. More difficult yet, I have to do so in a way that doesn’t inspire boredom in my team. I’ll need each of them if we are to make a change in our region. My name is Rumo Heb Din and with me are Lyla, Jozari and Arthur. This will be our story.
