Starting from humble beginnings in Tabang Town after being chosen by their TADRUP sponsors, they explored the scattered islands of the Sariwa Circlet under the watchful eye of Captain Pan. They found danger and fun, facing Pokemon such as the massive apes in Asteria Woods, running into King and Queen and getting trapped between the throes of a mighty turf war, Pryce and his island of abandoned Slowpoke, an island with scrappy Electrike and a mysterious laughing voice, and even danced with a bunch of Octillery! Ultimately they were able to prove themselves to their teacher, Professor Cinnamon, and were able to earn the Circlet badge from her wife Frankie Faraday, the Electric Gym Leader and leader of the Yapos branch of rangers.
Departing Sariwa, the party soon reached the Ganlan Strait in pursuit of a Pokemon from Percy's past named Shroomish. They reached the islands of Tsorraku and Nykairos, home to families of Zoroark and Lucario (and their trainers) respectively, whom have been rivals for who-knows-how-long. There's tricks, exams, and otherwise all sorts of obstacles, but the party eventually meets the leaders of these islands, the Patron and Matron, as well as find out about a mysterious festival that the islanders participate in, to be returned to later. They also experience some technological disturbance, meeting Morganna for the first time as they interrupted a meeting with Lugia and were promptly pursued for some time before she gave up the chase.
Taking their leave from the rival islands for now, they head south to the half-sunken island of Limahon, where Sona signs up to participate in her first contest. They also visit the lower half of the island, called the Cinch, and are swept away by some sort of altercation between odd, genie-like Pokemon, a gigantic Jellicent, and a somehow-participating Mairu, Kip's Togepi? Dodging the danger one way or another, they return to the contest, watching Jay's partner flee in the middle of it, and ultimately ending in a battle royale against the Steel Gym Leader Kami Bessemer, with Sona emerging dazzlingly as the winner! Afterwords, a double battle helps the gym hunters earn the Strait badge on the side.
But trouble in paradise happens when Kami is attacked by Team Ryft! Though they attempted to kidnap her and escape, the young trainers were able to knock her out- but at the cost of her Nidoqueen using Surf on them in a panic, destroying Larry's legs and fleeing with its snoozing trainer. Even the car was stopped, though in the process of saving Kami and the unconscious driver Team Virdis' jet was crashed into a local park, barely missing the roof of the hospital. After some time resting (and scavenging a mysterious egg and a pokeball from the sunken vehicle), the party had to mourn the loss of Larry and Kat Haven, who chose to return home after Larry's legs were deemed irreparable.
Braving on despite this sadness, the party was graced with two new allies, Lyra Belmonte and Andrea Caruso, young trainers from the Unova region. They returned to the rival islands to participate in the ceremony at Kirikiza, discovering that their bodies were traded with their chosen partner Pokemon and that they (minus Kip) were chosen to protect Yapos from some great danger. What was that danger, you ask? Well... even the most ancient of Pokemon were completely unsure. Very comforting.
After they returned to reality, the party retrieved Kip and pursued their rival Darna, who was chasing after Kami as she returned to Sangleye. They found an odd statue (or was it?) of Registeel, and explored strange metal caves etched with stories from generations ago. Eventually they reached Kami's gym, signing up for colosseum battles, before descending into the heart of the island and running into Team Ryft yet again. Much battling ensued, until they defeated the Ryft-converted Darna and descended deeper to find Morganna and Kami having a discussion in Kami's home. They learned many thing about the origins of Yapos, and Morganna's fight against her sister Guinnevere, as well as the uprise of the Bonded, an ancient line of humans with close connections to Pokemon who defended Yapos long ago. Having secured Kami and Darna's safety, with Sujin and Jay having an important discussion on the side, and Sona unlocking the Pokeball to reveal a harsh-edged "DE" Ninetales named Meg, the party left for New Sootopolis.
The wreckage of New Sootopolis was harsh and unwelcoming to the group, mirroring the android gym leader Jupiter Durant, who gave the group permission to visit her lab for a short time while she challenged the gym battlers with her odd, scrap metal Dark type Pokemon, giving the three victors the Ruin Badge. Unfortunately for her, these young trainers have keen eyes and itchy fingers, finding the double-secret chamber with the "RECALL" button. They learned about the sad fate of the island, right before nearly flooding it and causing all the local robots (and Kip, for some reason) to glitch out, then confronted "Lugia"- particularly, a Spiritomb attached to it with a weird device. They caught it and then fled for greener pastures before the gym leader could awaken from her catatonic state.
Despite facing dangerous enemies, unpredictable challenges, and the loss of two dear friends, our heroes continue venturing into the vast unknown. What could be awaiting them in Dapple Reef, I wonder...?
