Today was an absolute mess. I’m tempted to skip the kinda boring morning section and get right into what has to be the scariest evening of my life, but I guess I should jot it down quickly for memory’s sake.
After Darcy K.O’d my tepig, Polgi, I went back to camp where the professor was kind enough to heal him up for me. From what he said, I shouldn’t rely on him doing that again, he just decided to lend a hand since I’d lost my first battle. I’m alright with that, and Lilly’s dad seems like a nice guy!
I joined everyone else in the cafeteria and grabbed a seat next to Lilly, since she was by herself. She seemed surprised to see me, and talking with her was a little awkward with how closed off she is, but that’s okay; making friends takes time after all. One of the other kids, Becca, joined us and showed off this cool pokemon she caught. No idea what it is, but apparently it’s pretty rare. Hopefully I get to see it in action soon.
I wonder if its slime is edible…? Wait, gotta stay focused or this journal will be forever long!
We ended up delaying our… “excursion” ‘til the next night so our pokemon could rest. On the next day, after some free time, some of us attended the cooking class by Phoebe (got some great recipes to try out later) and a theater performance by Lupe. I volunteered to be in the improve show, and honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking, heheh! I’ve never performed anything in my life and I don’t know the first thing about improve!
I decided to follow this other girl’s lead, and it went pretty well. At least, according to everyone else. The play was supposed to be scary, but I think we made it funny instead? Well, Lupe was satisfied so I guess it worked out.
Anyway, now we can get to the terrifying part. When night fell, we all decided to leave camp. Nym and I were thinking about staying behind, but, I just couldn’t let the rest go alone. Safety in numbers, ya know? We jumped the fence with a little help from some tools and pokemon, and found ourselves in the real thick part of the woods.
I was starting to lose my nerve a little bit. Especially when Lilly said she wanted to go home. Like, she wanted to walk from here, all the way to her home by ourselves. In the dark. Without gear. What the HECK, I thought she was supposed to be the smart one! After some arguments and wandering in the dark, we saw some lights headed our way. Most of the group did their best to hide, but Sherman got spotted by these two strange people dressed like they were off to fly a plane. They had the goggles and everything!
They tried to get Nym and Sherman to follow them onto their fan boat so they could take them home. I was so scared… these people just screamed bad news to me and I had this feeling that if they took Nym and Sherman away, we might never see them again.
Honestly, I’m kind of mad at myself for not going out there and smacking those bad guys upside the head for messing with my friends! It’s what my dad would have done, but… I just froze behind that tree. I jumped in and tried to lie our way out eventually, but I still feel like I should have… I don’t know, done something bigger…
Luckily, Lilly was thinking ahead. She gave us all an opening to run, and we dashed into the forest fast as we could. Then, the pilot guys sent these vicious flying pokemon at us! That was the really scary part. We ran fast as we could, even attacked back with our pokemon (and some lighting from Theo, what the hay is that about?), but they just wouldn’t give up! They even almost ripped Sherman’s wooper out of his arms!
Then, we spotted a grove, where the trees were so dense there was no way the flying mons could reach us, and dashed inside. Finally able to breathe, we found ourselves by this lake, covered in fog. I was pretty exhausted, ready to collapse, but not before we got the final surprise for the night.
Some strange pokemon appeared in the mist, and spoke to Theo. I’m not sure what it said, but Theo looked pretty shocked about the encounter, which I can understand. It left as quickly as it came, and finally, we made the decision to stay here for the night, to make sure those bad guys are gone.
I don’t think I’ve been so tired and scared in my life. My hand is still shaking as I write this! I can only hope we didn’t get too lost and can find our way back to camp before night fall… I’m not sure what everyone else is thinking, but I’m gonna tell the camp counselors about those guys we met as soon as we get back. They seem like bad news, news the grown-ups might need to know about to keep everyone safe. It’s not just about us anymore, and I hope the others can understand my thinking on that.
I’ll try not to get us all in trouble, but I think this is really important. And my dad would want me to do what’s right.
