( in preparation for the inevitable autobiography ;D )
ENTRY #30 - Thursday, August 11th 2016
Wow wow wow SO diary I think that the Betrayers might've hopped right into a horror movie!? Some scary shit happened today but regis it sure is good movie material.
We were having a cool time wandering around the farm, saw a funny apple with a worm in it, whatever, cool. But THEN. We went over to the pumpkin farm and saw... it was closed, which is fair. Lantern's mom Daphne was just chilling there looking at how things were growing- I'll get back to her later- but then we decide to go and check out the Pokemon they had on their ranch since that's the only thing interesting that was really left to do.
This is where things get a little spooky. They had a lil zone with Gogoats and Skiddo, and like, they were so skittish they wouldn't even let ME ride them. I have a little tumble, but with my KEEN EYES notice that there's an area with a broken fence... as if something BIG AND SCARY BROKE IN and ATE SOME OF THEM?! The Pokemon refused to go near that corner so I bet that's definitely what happened.
IT GETS WORSE THOUGH. Some bleating can be heard within the attached farm- it's really dark in there, so none of us can see... except for Jack, whose eyes go all scary and dark and he's all like "guys what are you talking about I can see in there just fine"? Poor sweet magical boy didn't even know he was using... eye spells. Or whatever it was. But he goes in and saves the skiddo that was trapped in there, and also sees a brown stain on the floor that we thought was shit at first but was actually Blood. Which Sherman managed to find out, of all people.
MONSTERS EATING POKEMON?!! BLOODSTAINS IN THE BARNYARD??!!! Before we call Daphne to call the cops or whoever Theo has a round of talking to each of us individually EXCEPT Jack, telling us to NOT tell Jack that he's been using unconscious magic. He did a really bad job about talking about Jack behind Jack's back, but honestly I think that's okay. I like that my new friends are bad at that, lol.
Anyways after baby's first gossip circle we go back and tell Daphne that we found blood and hurt Pokemon and she calls the cops who come in and then ambulances come and OH MY GOD they aren't DEAD but they're three UNCONCIOUS BEAT-UP PEOPLE who get pulled out of there!!! And like, they were there all beat up that whole time??? Apparently something peeled their skin like oran berries which is super nasty and creepypasta-like. Jack even realized later that he knows those people, that they're the Apreesh family and one of their kids is his friend? And his friend is the one that's missing, which means these skin-peeling monsters kidnapped them OR they're the skin-peeler OR-
Or. Idk. They ran off or something into the woods. This is the boonies so I'm sure there's plenty of space to go and hide in the trees or whatever.
So Daphne drives us home after since we're all almost-murder-mystery'd out, and when we get to Jack's place his dad was all huffy about whatever happened and ran off to the mayor or something. The rest of us (except Theo) went upstairs and watched a movie while Mr "I'm the dashing white haired protagonist I don't HAVE fun" stayed down there and kept guard so he could blow up any guys that might've followed us or something.
OH and also we saw a pic of Jack's mom, who seemed nice but she had one spooky eye (the same kind Jack had at the barn) and one normal one. And she passed away when Jack was little. That's... kinda sad. I hope she's proud of Jack, watching on from ghost space or wherever.
- The man in the woods with the red eye is "not going to cause any problems"
- The past(?) is catching up to Butch, involving some event 15 years ago. He wants to make sure that Jack stays safe no matter what.
- Jack's strange eye MAY have been related to the Apreesh incident, but more than likely is not (probably a hereditary thing?)
- Butch mentions Yancy's boy causing problems or hurting people due to that event from 15 years ago
- Yancy, for reference, is the mayor of the town
- Yancy, for reference, is the mayor of the town
- Butch finishes the conversation by saying that Theo should NOT go into the woods, but from his tone it sounds like there MIGHT be answers within it
Lily wakes up, and Sherman soon after. While Theo tries to explain his motives, Sherman objects angrily, not wanting his friend to put himself in danger.
Everyone else wakes up, including Jack's dad, and though they all attempt to keep him from leaving Theo rushes out the back door into the dark woods.
Lost deep in the forest with Rook (his Umbreon), Theo eventually runs into two extremely ominous four legged creatures, who look very much like the monstrous Pokemon that KO'd Danny back in Sousopolis. A voice with no visible source speaks to him.
"Well, it's a bit late for kids to be out, isn't it? I strongly suggest you turn around."
Ignoring this "friendly" suggestion, Theo asks this disembodied voice a couple of questions. As they speak, their voice shifts- from an adult masculine voice, to an adult feminine voice, to the voice of a child, and back again, in cycle. They know nothing of the Broil family, but when Theo asks if they know anything about Hiawatha they pause, surprised and intrigued.
Before they are able to act, potentially maliciously, they're scared off by a man shooting at them with a shotgun. A bullet hits one of the monstrous Pokemon on their metal head, not doing damage, but sending the message and causing the voice and the Pokemon to flee. A previously-unseen third monster Pokemon also flees with them.
The shotgun man reveals himself to be the forest hobo/man with the red eye, who also happens to be Jack's grandfather (his mother's father, to be precise). His name is Wotha, and he begrudgingly brings Theo to the safety of his cabin, where the missing Apreesh child is hiding out as well. When Theo points out his eye, Wotha rolls his eyes and congratulates him for identifying him as Tao.
Ugh, it's too early to exist right now. I woke up to the sound of Sherman, of all people, shouting something... and then Theo running off into the woods. So much for being our valiant protector, ditching us all and causing a bunch of drama. He better apologize super hard for starting Shermy's bday off so badly.
Oh wait a sec, Lily's walking over to me with a weird look. I hope she's not gonna ask to read my diary for manager reasons. I don't wanna cut this one short though so I'm just gonna, like, write casually while she's talking to m-
((a scribbly line goes down to the bottom of the page from the end of the m))
A DATE?!
