Today, Eponine and I challenged the gym. The gym is only open at night so we were able to get in one last day of training before we had to battle Hall. Eponine was the first to battle him.
The referee said that we were able to use 3 Pokémon in this battle, and the first one Hall sent out was a Trevenant. His gym turned out to be ghost type. During Eponine’s fight, Hall also sent out a Lampent. It was a hard fought battle, but sadly Eponine lost.
I went up next, and I was really nervous, but I believed in my team to get me through this. It started off rocky with Simon (My Excadrill) taking a beating, but between a combination of the Toxic Spikes that Hefty (My Trubbish) set up at the beginning, and Eun’s (My Emboar) Heat Crash, I was able to take down Hall. His last Pokémon was a Doublade. After the battle, Hall told us that the next gym was in a town west of Kurien. When I asked him about where he found his Doublade, he said that he found it South of Pernilus, in a place called Ticen Fields. It was pretty late though, so we headed back to the Pokémon Center to rest up. In the morning we’re planning on going to explore Ticen Fields.
March 13, 2018
The first thing we did when we got up was check the internet. What we saw was there were shakes in the northern region of Reikioro, specifically near Aristar. Our families were all okay thankfully. Another interesting thing we saw though was that there were emergency sirens tested in the north a few days before the shakes took place.
After that, we started to make our way down to Ticen Fields as a group, and Richter came along. On our way, a police officer stopped us and told us to be careful. It seems something happened down there at some point, and he told us to be back by dark. He also mentioned that there was a Pokémon named Cyber found in Ticen Fields. We kept going along when suddenly we noticed something yellow in the distance. It ran away, but Soren was able to track it. We ended up tracking it all the way to Ticen Fields. What we found were four large rocks, and three dilapidated buildings that seemed to be the old observatory that was here. When we got to the middle building, we saw the yellow Pokémon dart into the ruins.
After some hesitation, Soren approached the entrance to the observatory and saw a bunch of computers turned on and scattered papers. We entered the building, and approached one of the PC’s, and it read “Until you Rush ahead.” We fiddled with the computer a bit, but nothing seemed to work. That is until I typed in Rush. Suddenly the display changed and pcitures appeared. The pictures contained what appeared to be Pokémon, and we were able to identify three as being Lunatone, Solrock, and Elgyem. We weren’t able to identify the other two.
Eponine started to back away from the computers and towards the door, but she ended up stepping on exposed wires and getting hurt. After a little bit though, a potion suddenly appeared next to her. We weren’t sure where it came from, but we sort of agreed that it might have been from the yellow Pokémon we saw, which we assume is Cyber. Richter yelled out that if Cyber wants to talk, we can go somewhere safer. With that, all of us expect for Bowser head up the stairs to a catwalk and sit down.
Richter seemed to start communicating with Cyber. She said that she didn’t know Gasman, but did know Brydis. We weren’t able to get much more information than that, as she didn’t want to be asked anymore questions. We went back down to the computers, and Bowser starts to mess with them. He tries typing in Brydis. It comes up with a line that says “My team of legend.” After typing in legend, the screen changed again. There was a single name. Andrew. Typing this in didn’t give us anything. We tried typing in Cyber, but when we did, she yelled at us from above.
We took that as our prompt to leave, and we checked out the different rocks. One of them was in a crater 60 feet down, and I went down there. We found a small pink Pokémon, and Richter heard it saying something strange. It was saying “In the atmosphere” in the language that we were speaking. Soren captured it, but let it go shortly after we got out of the crater.
Next we went over to the building with a giant piece of the telescope hanging precariously in the air. If it fell, it would cause a lot of damage. We carefully make our way in and start exploring. Eponine and Richter are able to get the computer working, and she starts looking through the files. The saved files don’t go too far back though. There are also controls for the telescope, so Eponine adjusts the telescope which produces a horrible sound as it’s adjusted. We decide to leave and head over to the third building.
There seems to only be one working computer in the building, but it’s password protected. We try a few things but they don’t seem to work. That’s when we try typing in Eponine. The password was accepted. Unfortunately, we didn’t get much further as it asked for another password. Though why in the world would Eponine be the password here?
We finally go back to original building and start messing with the computer again. At this point, we start thinking that these entries we’re seeing could be from Brydis. The lines at least have been coming from the songs she’s been performing. The first thing we try doing is typing in atmosphere as that’s what that cute little Pokémon was saying. It suddenly came up with “catching ‘em all is my destiny, the best, and I’m a Pokémon Master.” That wasn’t the strange part though. There was a picture of me after the Gasman incident. Why in the world would she have a picture of me here? Typing in “the best” gave us a line without anything highlighted, as well as a picture of Eponine during the first contest.
We spent a few hours typing in various names and words that either showed up, or thought were important. We especially typed in things from her performances. I’m writing this down so I don’t forget it.
- Typing in Andrew, a line saying “watch the way I gravitate” and a picture of Hall and what we assume is Stella up
- Typing in Hall, three letters show up “BAD”
- Typing in Tak gives a list of 4 things: Dianne, Maudi, Richter, Sindri
- Typing in Richter gives a short story that says
- “Today there was a tragedy. But she is there to help. Now he goes west. They hope to meet again”
- Typing in Eponine gives the line “love forever”
- Typing in Travis gives “burn the ____”
- Typing in Bowser says “do not show him Stantler”
- Typing in Soren says “I can make loops with a capture styler”
- Typing in Ricky says “Today I made a mistake. I hope I don’t make another one”
- Typing in Gasman says “I miss him”
- Typing in R-Evo says “Caller and R-Evo stare like a creep”
- Typing in Asa says “Long live the king”
- Typing in King says “ENSI”
- Typing in Tina gives detailed schematics of a large building that has the League lightning symbol on it in multiples places with many color codes and x’s and o’s not explained. This is the Dinobell gym that doubles as a prison
- Soren realizes that it looks like an escape plan from a specific cell
- Richter copied this map down so we could take it to Tina
- Typing in Satellite gives a lot of previously seen information, as well as a map, the chorus to the song next to Eponine
- Typing in Dianne says “Pray the feral will survive”
- Typing in Feral gives “pray the injured will survive”
- Typing in injured gives “pray the feral will survive”
- Typing in Maudi and Sindri angered Cyber
- Typing in Ticen gives a map of the area
- Typing in Pernilus gives “The prime minister will get crushed”
- Typing in Carol gives a list of the Elite Four
- We found out Carol was the previous Elite Four member. Her position was the one that Richter took
- Typing in Landorus gives “Pray the feral will survive”
- Typing in Stantler says “Keep away from Bowser”
It was getting dark out so we decided to spend the night there at Ticen Fields. Soren and Bowser took the first watch, and what they told me they saw, I couldn’t believe until I saw it myself. Multiple Pokémon that we saw on the computer screen came flying down from space and landed in Ticen Fields. It was a sight to behold for sure. Well, I’m finishing up my shift now, and heading back to bed. We’ve got a long journey ahead of us to make it to Dinobell.
March 14, 2018
We decided to do one last check at the computer. Typing in Kelldrash gave us “The gates will open.”
Our walk back is rather uneventful, but when we enter Pernilus, we saw another one of the rounded pink things. It appeared and said “The gates can open.” It disappeared suddenly, just like the others. At this point, it’s become such a regular occurrence, yet we have no idea what they are, or what they’re doing.
We set out from Pernilus shortly after arriving back, and made our back up to Nuvema Town. We’re spending the night here, and heading out to Kiurien, then Dinobell tomorrow.
March 15, 2018
We left early in the morning and made it to Kiurien. We set out west to Dinobell, and along the way we ran into Dustin. The battle didn’t take long, but it was good to see him again. It wasn’t too long before we made it to Dinobell. After just having been in Pernilus, the capital, and going through the big cities of the Quinturben, it was nostalgic almost to be Dinobell. It reminded me a lot of Aristar. We didn’t have much time to waste though, as Richter called Tina to tell her that we were showing up and we had important information. That’s when we asked Richter about the map. However, he didn’t have it anymore. We had no idea where it went, but after seeing how sneaky Cyber was, we came to a conclusion that Cyber might have taken it.
We left the Pokémon Center and made our way to the Gym. It was really intimidating. It was a jail after all. When we went in to give the information we received, they told us that we could give them the information while completing the gym challenge. I wasn’t sure what exactly they meant, but we found out quickly. They brought us into a holding area and took us back one at a time to question us individually. I was first up.
While walking back, Officer Kennith, the one doing the questioning, asked me about my scars and limp. I told him it came from the Gasman incident. He basically asked me what I knew, so I spilled everything. I told him all about what we encountered at Ticen Fields, how long we’ve known Brydis, everything about Brydis that we know, and about Cyber. I immediately regretted it as I was walking back.
After everyone was done being questioned, Officer Kennith showed us the same exact map we had found. It turns out that they had people out there already who had recovered the map. After this, he told us that he would be taking us to the area specifically marked on the map, but we weren’t allowed to have any Pokémon outside of their Pokéballs. He said that this area contained a single person who was under the strictest security possible. After going through a ton of doors and security we are shown a hallway that contained cells with glass and bars closing them. Soren joked asking if the other cells were for us. Kennith said “Maybe.”
We slowly entered the hallway. The first cell was empty and had the name “Caller” written on it. The second one was empty and said “Brydis.” The third one was not empty though.
Inside was a frail old man. It looked like he hadn’t seen daylight or had a good meal in him in years. It looked like the breeze could carry him away. There was a name on the cell like the other two. It read “Andrew.”
It was silent for a short while. However, he spoke up when we brought up the name Caller. We asked who he was. He told us that he was the true champion.
He told us that Caller was his son but was taken away at a young age. He didn’t know who Brydis was, but his wife’s name was Hollems, while Brydis’ last name is Hollemsdottir. He also said that Asa is a dictator basically, just like the previous “prime minister” Ensi. He explained that the Feral were people with deformities or disabilities in Reikioro and that they are thrown out into the woods. He tried to understand them, but when he spoke out about it, he was censored.
He had a partner Pokémon that was a Clefable named Chivalary. She was murdered. Gasman was owned by his father. He told us how he tried to escape multiple times, but the cities he escaped to were bombed by the government. These cities were Mendesville, a town west of Dinobell, and Slaetton, a small town on an island. The bridge leading to Mendesville was also destroyed in the bombing. These cities were never evacuated. The government had bombed them, killing innocent civilians in the process. I was furious.
The Feral seem to have a culture that follows three powerful Pokémon; Tornadus, Landrous, and Thundurus. He asked how Bowser and I got injured, since if we were born with these, we would’ve been thrown out just like the Feral.
He said that the Elite Four when he was the champion were Dianne, his wife, his father, as well as a name he never learned. He never met this person, and he said that Ensi kept them close. He told us that he also had a daughter named Drew, and that Caller was a few years older than her. We actually knew of Drew already. She is a gym leader, as well as being in a relationship with Richter. Andrew told us that Caller was a wild child, and that he wanted to meet the people of the west and the Pokémon they followed.
Andrew told us more about when he was captured in Slaetton. He was forced to watch his wife be tortured and killed. He also saw a young man stab Chivalry with a sword. He asked us if we had ever seen a Pokémon die before. They are petrified. The petrified corpse of Chivalry was left for some time in front of Andrew’s cell to haunt him. He further explained what this man looked like. He was tall, pale, well dressed, and had black hair. This description matched Hall exactly.
I felt incredibly uneasy as I thought back on the gym challenge for Hall’s gym. At the end, I had to pull a sword out of a statue that resembled a Pokémon. I didn’t want to think about it, but it couldn’t leave my mind. Was that Chivalry? Did that sick bastard make us pull a sword out of a dead Pokémon?
Andrew told us not to blame the man and that Ensi had put him up to it. But I don’t think I can do that.
Andrew said that Ensi and Asa claim to have power like no others. They take responsibility for things no man or Pokémon has ever done before. The government censors everything else except for what they say, so they can keep power.
At this point, our entire group is shocked. It’s taking all of our willpower to hold ourselves back from crying or throwing fists at someone. That’s when Andrew stood up with a glass in his hand. He said this:
"If you drop a glass cup on the floor, it is already broken the the point that it no longer functions as a cup, and cannot be broken anymore. But he who drops the cup, fears of stepping in the mess that he made. I cannot be broken more than I am, and if I was, they know the consequences."
He threw the glass on the ground behind him, shattering it.
Soren walked over to the door leading out and knocked on it. I could tell that it was taking every bit of his self-control not to punch Kennith as soon as we left. I was feeling the same way, but at the same time, incredibly sad. If I was born with these scars and limp, I would be one of the feral. I would have never met Eponine, Bowser, or Ricky. I would have never met Eun. This isn’t right.
Kennith let us out and told us that Andrew is a very charismatic man. He also said that we were able to get him to talk more than he ever had since he’d been imprisoned here. Kennith went on to warn us not to do anything stupid. This is a prison, and there are guards everywhere with guns. He said that Tina will be here soon, and that if we have any questions, we can ask her them after the gym battle.
We left the gym immediately with Richter, and went to the outskirts of town to a broken bridge. The broken bridge to Mendesville. We asked Richter what we knew, and we told him what we found out from Andrew. He said that he had heard some of this and was weary of the government. He told us that Gasman did bring up Andrew as well as referring to Ensi as a king. It turned out that he also left the map back at Ticen Fields since he didn’t trust the government at that point. Richter also told us about Tina. He referred to her as a bitch, and that she enjoyed stomping on young trainers. In fact, not many trainers make it past the 5th gym. Her gym. He told us that she would definitely have a Lucario on her team. But I had no desire to fight her.
We started to discuss what we were going to do next. We wanted to do something about what Andrew told us, but we weren’t sure when to act. I wanted to leave right away. Knowing what the government was doing made me sick. Richter was against us leaving. He said that it wasn’t our fight and that we were just kids. I couldn’t take that as an answer. How were we supposed to just keep going knowing what we know now? Our discussion was cut short though by a series of violent shakes. Soren was flung against the bridge and knocked out. He seemed to be in critical condition and we needed to act quickly.
We rushed him over to the gym, as the helicopter there was probably our quickest way to the hospital. It was full of people, but they told us they could get a helicopter prepared. While we were waiting around, we heard that something happened in Keldrash and Aristar that required the military to be called there. It turns out a Mamoswine attacked Aristar. Richter got a call from Drew, and she said that the gates in Keldrash were broken. We were told that shady people were coming from Keldrash and Aristar and they were being arrested. Eventually the helicopter arrived, and the person to greet us on the helicopter was none other than Tina.
Soren was just barely hanging on as we made it to the hospital. As were dropped off, Tina smugly said that she’d see us soon for the battle.
We rushed Soren in and waited outside in the lobby. After a while, the nurse came in and she didn’t look happy. She didn’t say it, but she implied that Soren wasn’t going to make it, but that we could go see him. When we got there though, he seemed to be fine. The nurse was completely shocked and said she shouldn’t be in this good of a condition. In fact, he should be able to get out tomorrow morning. I don’t know how this happened, but I’m just glad he’s okay. Eponine, Bowser, and I decided to spend the night in the hospital with him while Richter went off to the Pokémon Center. He called us, and told us what happened.
He said that when he arrived, people were crowded around the TV. Prime Minister Asa was on. She had just announced martial law for the region to handle the situation.
As soon as we heard this we all looked at each other. It didn’t take much discussion before we knew what we had to do. We had to go as soon as possible.
We had to get off the grid as soon as we could. Now that we’ve talked to Andrew, we’re going to have a huge target on our backs, and they are going to be watching us closely, especially since martial law has just been ordered. However, the government is ruthless and us just disappearing would shift the target onto our families’ backs. So to avoid that, we’re going to have to fake our deaths. I have no clue how we’re going to do it, but that’s our only choice. We must bring justice for Andrew and stop Asa. Our future is uncertain, but I know that I can rely on my friends, and my Pokémon. I’m going to bed now, ready for whatever comes next.
