Travis, Leo, and Eponine spent a good part of the end of the day battling the Weather Researcher, Carol. Neither of Carol’s pokemon smelled especially distinctive, especially when I got the bacony stench of Travis’ Pignite stuck in my nose, but they certainly were… Screechy. Both the pink one and the little bat were ear-shattering. I’m probably going to have a headache later.
Wait. Is that pink? It’s kind of a weird, purplish dark pink. That’s still pink. Wait, why do I care how it looks? It doesn’t even have much of a smell.
I had fun officiating the battles, even if it wasn’t really in any professional kind of way. Both Travis’ Pignite and Eponine’s Espurr performed excellently, and I didn’t even get distracted by Leo. That took real effort.. I think my Dad’d be proud. I should write him about it.
Somehow Leo’s battle ended in a dance-off. That bat’s got a voice!
Travis seems to be having a moral dilemma surrounding his Bidoof, Stumpy. Looks like Bowser is going to take care of her at the moment. Hilariously, Leo can’t get him to take his Bidoof too. Bowser is NOT a Bidoof hotel. Especially not with that bullet. Nurse Joy says we have to get to Darven in order to get that treated.

I don’t know how much I like Route 4, but I like it better than the woods. It smells like the ocean. There’s lots of medical junk lying around, too, including some stuff Travis injected his Pignite with. I don’t think I’m going to ask what the stuff he’s pumping into his Pokémon is, I doubt I’d be able to talk him out of it.
Whatever that stuff is, it just made Pignite send a Whismur flying off into the lower stratosphere. It’s up there with the Drifblim now… That was horrible. I imagine I’ll be able to smell fear on every other Whismur on this route from here on out. They look like such timid Pokémon!
Oh, and I got my Magikarp back. Bowser was taking very good care of her, but since he’s running a Bidoof Day Care now, and since he got hurt, I don’t have any problems training Crowny myself. She’s almost learned Bubble now! I’m excited for that!
We met a Youngster Sam on the route to Darven City. He and Eponine got into a big game of back-and-forths. There were a couple other trainers, too.
Wow! Darven city is HUGE! And there’s this weird angular pokemon battling Travis! It sounded like it was trying to tell us something, like it was trying to speak in Common, but I couldn’t make it out. It’s cry was way too autotuned. Bowser thinks it was a warning of some kind, but he’s always been kinda paranoid.
I’m disappointed I didn’t get a whiff of that pink and blue Pokémon, although I don’t think it would have really had a distinct scent, other than perhaps some kind of weird crude oil or lubricant.
I didn’t get any new scents at all, really, these last couple days. Not even considering the exciting new pokemon Carol showed us, and that weird one in Darven’s entrance. That’s disappointing. Maybe I should just work with what I’ve already got. I can’t believe I haven’t tried bonding with my Paras yet over the powder it emits, I bet it could make some wonders.
(Today was an interesting session. Between the multiple character level-ups, the absence of Ricky[‘s player], the emotional turmoil brought on by the Amazing Stumpy, and the fire drill, it was awesome.)
